Two held for ‘nuclear bomb’ threat at airport
New Delhi, April 8: Two passengers were arrested by police for giving threat of a ‘nuclear bomb’ to security staff during frisking at Delhi’s IGI airport, an official said on Monday. The official said that the incident occurred on April 5. The duo was identified as Jignesh Malani and Kashyap Kumar Lalani, both residents of Rajkot in Gujarat. (IANS)

TMC leaders stage dharna outside ECI office, detained
New Delhi, April 8: The Delhi Police on Monday detained Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, including MPs, who sat in protest outside the office of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in the national capital. The detainees included Trinamool Rajya Sabha MPs Dola Sen, Sagarika Ghose, Saket Gokhale, Derek O’Brien, Mohammed Nadimul Haque, and former MPs Arpita Ghosh and Santanu Sen. “A few Trinamool Congress leaders have been detained and taken to a police station,” said a senior police officer. The police action came when a 10-member Trinamool delegation sat on a dharna outside the EC office after meeting a few poll officials. (IANS)

Two held for cyber fraud of Rs 1.13 crore
Gurugram, April 8: A Cyber Crime team of the Gurugram Police has arrested two people for allegedly duping a man of Rs 1.13 crore. The accused allegedly lured the victim to earn money by linking a bank account to a gaming app, police said. The complainant told the police that he had seen an advertisement named Renault Car Hire on Snapchat. After this, he filled in his details there. After some time, some persons contacted him through Telegram and lured him to earn money by working from home and cheated him to the tune of Rs 1.13 crore in January 2024. (IANS)

Security beefed up across WB after bomb threat to schools
Kolkata, April 8: Security has been beefed up across Kolkata and other districts of West Bengal, mainly around schools and educational institutions, after an email was received by a school in Kolkata that threatened to blow up 200 schools. A call was received at the Kolkata Police headquarters in Lalbazar from a well-known school in Behala claiming that it received the threat through e-mail on Monday afternoon. The list includes several schools in the Behala area as well as elsewhere. No official statement has been issued as yet though. (IANS)

Notices to 1,434 headmasters of govt-run schools in Bihar
Patna, April 8: The Bihar Education Department has issued show-cause notices to nearly 1,450 headmasters or in-charge of government-run primary and middle schools, who failed to respond to a feedback system for the mid-day meal scheme. As per the missive, 1,434 headmasters/in-charge did not respond to the Interactive Voice Response System, developed by the department, to monitor the implementation of the mid-day meal scheme in 72,000 government schools, from November 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024.
