Mozambique mishap kills over 90 people
Harare, April 8: A makeshift ferry sank off Mozambique’s northern coast on Sunday, killing more than 90 people including children, local media reported. The overcrowded boat was carrying 130 people and many of those who drowned were children, according to reports. The boat was operating between Lunga and the Island of Mozambique in Nampula province in the north of the country when it capsized, the report said. Rescue efforts continued on Monday, as people were still reportedly missing. (PTI)
Indian-origin man charged with robbery
London, April 8: An Indian-origin man who is suspected of threatening staff at a Post Office in Hounslow, west London, to steal a large quantity of cash has been charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm, Scotland Yard said on Monday. Rajvinder Kahlon, 41, was arrested last week at his home address following the robbery at the Post Office on Brabazon Road, Hounslow, on April 1. The Metropolitan Police said its Flying Squad officers responded to the reports and detectives were able to piece together the suspect’s identity. (PTI)
