One dies in road mishap in Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH, April 18: A fatal road accident unfolded on Thursday morning along National Highway 6 at Lad Umsaw in Ri-Bhoi, occurring at approximately 8 am. Reports indicate that an individual was suspected to have been struck by a heavy vehicle, resulting in severe external and internal injuries, including dislocation of the shoulder and ribs.
The victim, identified as Purna Das (37), a resident of Ranggabak in Hailakandi district, Assam, was pronounced dead at the scene. Following standard procedures, the deceased’s body was transferred to the Civil Hospital in Nongpoh for a thorough postmortem examination.
Local authorities promptly notified the relatives of the deceased about the unfortunate incident.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the tragic loss of life.
