Shillong, April 24: The U-17 Girls Inter Zonal Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, commenced with fervour at Shortimai Syiem Stadium in Smit on Wednesday.
In the opening match, Sohra Super Nova faced off against STCC Pongtung Lioness in a highly anticipated clash. Winning the toss, Sohra Super Nova opted to bat first and put up a competitive total of 150/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Banrikordor Diengdoh emerged as the top scorer for Sohra Super Nova with a commendable knock of 60 runs from 63 deliveries. Dawanshisha Warlarpih proved to be the pick of the bowlers for STCC Pongtung Lioness, claiming 2 wickets for 16 runs in her 4-over spell.
In response, STCC Pongtung Lioness struggled to find their footing and were bowled out for a total of 83 runs in 16.3 overs. Dawanshisha Warlarpih once again showcased her prowess with the bat, top-scoring for her team with 42 runs off 38 balls. Adela Kmen Lawai shone with the ball for Sohra Super Nova, picking up 3 wickets for 33 runs in her 4 overs.
With a convincing 67-run victory, Sohra Super Nova emerged triumphant in the match, showcasing their dominance on the field. Adelakmen Lawai’s stellar performance earned her the well-deserved title of Player-of-the-Match, adding to Sohra Super Nova’s celebrations.
