Police nab GNLA-R mastermind in Garo Hills

TURA, April 29: In a major breakthrough, police have arrested the mastermind behind the formation of the Garo National Liberation Army-Regrouped or GNLA-R along with another person from a village in North Garo Hills.
Simon G Momin, the GNLA-R mastermind, and Rakban Ch Momin were arrested from Gambil Apal village under Dainadubi police station in North Garo Hills on April 25, following an operation by West Garo Hills Police. Momin’s arrest came following the earlier arrests of Sengsrang N marak, Thosengcheba A Sangma and Chijang A Sangma in the same case.
Along with the arrests, police were also able to seize three mobile phones and two SIM cards.
According to police, Simon G Momin was earlier a member of the A’chik National Liberation Army (ANLA) and he was also associated with the now defunct Achik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF). He was also arrested earlier in Arms Act cases in West Khasi Hills, East Garo Hills and an extortion/abduction case in South Garo Hills.
