STP realises Rs 6.78-lakh fine in a week

SHILLONG, April 29: A special checking drive carried out by the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) from April 22 to 28 to deter the violators has led to realisation of fine worth Rs 6.78 lakh.
This was informed by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, on Monday.
During this period, a total of 684 violations were detected including the violations such as driving under the influence of alcohol, modified exhaust pipes etc.
The SP’s office, in the statement, said that such special drives will be conducted regularly in addition to regular checking in the interest of safety on the roads.
