Artillery shell recovered from city locality

SHILLONG, May 8: An unexploded military tank artillery shell of length 13 inches and circumference of 12 inches has been recovered from Mawlynrei Nonglum, Shillong.
The artillery shell was found when workers were digging the land for construction work.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Rituraj Ravi said the land from where the artillery shell was recovered is privately owned.
The artillery shell is being examined by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad of Meghalaya Police.
The SP said police have launched an investigation to identify the origin of the shell, and necessary steps were being taken for safe dispose of the shell.
