TURA, May 9: A Garo Hills-based organisation called ACHIK has opposed the proposed closure of the Resubelpara RMSA School in North Garo Hills allegedly for election purposes.
An appeal to halt such a proposed move was on the same submitted by the organization to the North Garo Hills Deputy commissioner
“Closing down the school for more than a month would not only disrupt the academic calendar but also deprive students of their right to education. Moreover, it would cause inconvenience to the teachers, staff, and parents who rely on the school’s functioning. Resubelpara RMSA School is an important educational institution in the area, and its closure would have a negative impact on the community,” it said, in its appeal to the DC on Wednesday.
The organisation has requested that the said school be allowed to remain functional, while suggesting that alternative venues like community centres, public halls and other available spaces be identified for election purposes.
