SHILLONG, May 17: The KSU on Friday demanded clarification from the Health department with regards to the walk-in interview for recruitment of staff nurses on contractual basis.
In their petition submitted to the Director of Health Services (MI), the Union said they would like to express their concern over various allegations made by the candidates who have applied for the post of staff nurse based on the advertisement issued by the department on March 6.
The KSU mentioned allegations about the list of selected candidates being prepared under the influence of people in power having various designations within the government and the department.
“There are numerous accusations that candidates who have been selected for the interview do not fulfill the required parameters set by the office and candidates who were left out fulfill all the parameters set by the office,” the KSU said, demanding transparency in the interview process to avoid any claim of nepotism and influence.
“We want the marks of all the candidates to be published in order to clear all the doubts and to avoid any discrepancy in the selection process,” it added.
The union also asked the department to clarify on whether the services of the nurses appointed on contractual basis could be regularized in future.
“If there is a possibility of such post being made permanent, we would humbly urge that such practices must be halted and proper recruitment process must be established for selecting the candidates which should be based on examinations and other parameters such as work experience must be kept for consideration,” the KSU added.
