SHILLONG, June 1: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old was electrocuted to death while charging his mobile phone at Pamtadong village under Amalarem Civil Subdivision.
The incident came to pass on the evening of May 30 when the victim, identified as one Tol Sana, went to charge his phone following the restoration of electricity, which was disrupted earlier due to bad weather.
Sources informed that the victim, who originally hailed from Mupyut village, was immediately electrocuted while charging his phone. The impact was such that the victim was hurled into a water tub.
Sana was unconscious and unresponsive when he was brought to Rasongsli Nursing Home at Amlarem. He was then declared brought dead.
It was also informed that on the same evening, two others from the same village were also electrocuted at almost the same time while trying to charge their mobile phones. They, however, survived without any injury.
Reportedly, there were multiple complaints from the villagers that the new electricity connection was improper as incidents of short circuits had happened in the villages.
