Tura, June 6: Immediate investigation has been sought into the construction of the PA Sangma Sports Complex in Tura by the Achik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK), following the recent collapse of a wall at the complex.
“This incident marks the second time a wall has collapsed at the complex in less than a year raising serious concerns about the quality of construction and oversight,” said the civil body through a press communiqué while also questioning the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the project.
“The PA Sangma Sports Complex, which was inaugurated in December 2022 but has been plagued by controversy from the start. Despite being built at a cost of Rs 127.7 crore, the complex remains incomplete, with many facilities still under construction. The recent wall collapse has sparked fears about the safety of the complex and has raised questions about the government’s ability to deliver on its promises,” felt president, Thomas Marak.
The group has urged the government to take immediate action and conduct a thorough probe into the construction of the complex. They also demanded that those responsible for the lapses be held accountable and that steps to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future, need to be taken.
