Shillong, July 10: Martin Marboh’s exceptional performance led Mawlynrei SC to their first win in the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024. Mawlynrei triumphed over Umsohsun with a decisive 4-0 victory at Polo’s Third Ground in Group C.
Marboh’s hat-trick was the highlight of the match, with goals scored in the 23rd, 53rd, and 63rd minutes. Daman Kyriam added to the tally just a minute after Marboh’s third goal. Prior to this match, Mawlynrei had faced two consecutive defeats, but this victory moved them up to fourth place in the standings.In another Group C match of the day, Golf Link SC and Nongthymmai Raitnongkynrih SC ended in a 1-1 draw. Zedly Syiemlieh gave Golf Link the lead in the 14th minute, but Iashanskhem Marbaniang equalized for Nongthymmai Raitnongkynrih in the 34th minute, just before halftime in the 70-minute encounter.
