Assam Rifles successfully hosts Sentinels Cup Football

SHILLONG, July 12: The Assam Rifles has organized the first-ever Assam Rifles Annual Women’s Football Tournament, branded as the Sentinels Cup, reflecting its title as the ‘Sentinels of the North East.’
This landmark event saw participation from seven women’s football teams representing Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and Assam Rifles.The tournament kicked off on June 30, 2024, at Lokra, Assam, with the opening ceremony graced by the Governor of Assam, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria. The tournament featured intense matches characterized by competitive spirit and closely contested games. The semifinals saw Assam Rifles facing Nagaland, while Assam battled Arunachal Pradesh.
The finals, held at the scenic Laitkor Garrison of the Assam Rifles in Shillong, showcased a thrilling match between Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh. After a nail-biting game that extended into extra time, Arunachal Pradesh emerged victorious.
