Youth empowerment takes centre stage at city college

Shillong, July 15: Students from the Department of Sociology at St. Edmund’s College, Shillong, participated in a series of empowering programmes and workshops, under the theme ‘Youth for Peace & Development’, aimed at enhancing their skills.
Organised as part of World Youth Skills Day, these initiatives focused on developing leadership abilities, promoting community engagement, and nurturing a culture of peace and development among the student community.
The day-long programme featured two workshop sessions led by professional resource persons from diverse backgrounds, inspiring students to cultivate determination, self-belief and continuous skill development.
The first workshop, ‘Youth Voices: Mastering the Art of Communication’, was conducted by Radio Personality, Gordon J. Thabah.
Additionally, the Owner & Founder of Linna Dance & Fitness Academy, Dapalei Warjri, led a workshop on Zumba promoting wellness among students.
On the other hand, faculty member Shubhankar Sarma organised a visit to All India Radio, Shillong, for a radio programme, where students presented insights on topics such as Youth & their Skills, Challenges faced, UN-focussed Areas on Peace & Development, Skill Enhancement through NEP 2020, youth leadership in a rapidly changing world, and aspirations for a more equitable future for all youths.
