TURA, July 29: The teaching community from West Garo Hills including those under the All Garo Hills Primary School Teachers’ Association (AGHPSTA), Dadenggre and Raksamgre zones, as well as all Deficit UP Schools under Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division, have refuted the allegation of ‘misbehavior’ made against the SDSEO from the area by certain groups terming the same as ‘fake and baseless’.
Earlier, local groups from Rajabala in West Garo Hills submitted a complaint to Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma demanding action against the said SDSEO alleging him of misbehaving with the public, ignoring complaints as well as nepotism.
Local groups including the GSU, FKJGP, GSMC, ASPF and ACHIK in their complaint filed jointly along with the general public had claimed that the official behaved rudely, is uncooperative towards the public and does not pay heed to the complaints made by them. The local groups also alleged the official of nepotism by claiming that he had attempted to appoint one of his people during a recent recruitment of an assistant teacher for a school in the area.
According to the clarification issued on Monday on behalf of the teaching community, by Margareth R Marak, the Headmistress of Rochonpara Deficit UP School, the SDSEO, along with his team comprised of the Selsella BMC on July 24, had gone to conduct an inquiry into a complaint made by some women SHG against the Headmaster of a certain school. However, it was the members of the various groups who misbehaved with the SDSEO without giving an opportunity to conduct the inquiry peacefully.
Monday’s clarification, while strongly condemning the incident, also sought that necessary legal steps be taken as well as a detailed inquiry conducted with regard to the matter.
