SHILLONG, Aug 3: The Meghalaya state branch of the Indian Psychiatric Society (MEGHIPS) convened its annual conference here on Saturday in a bid to promote mental health through yoga and medicine.
Thematised on ‘Mind, Body, Medicine’, the conference was participated by a diverse audience, including healthcare professionals, practitioners, students and the general public.
In his address, MEGHIPS president Pakha Tesia emphasised the crucial role of mental well-being in overall health, underscoring the need for a sound and healthy mind in contemporary stressful times. On the other hand, renowned expert Shivaram, who was the keynote speaker, delved into the significance of yoga as a powerful tool for stress relief and mental wellness.
His interactive session engaged attendees in practical discussions and demonstrations, highlighting the therapeutic benefits of yoga practices.
Adding a dynamic element to the conference, participants also engaged in a collective yoga session guided through Zoom, an online platform.
