Shillong, August 9 : The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) will be holding two Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Board Examinations from the academic session of 2024-2025.
The Cabinet on Friday approved the amendment of Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) Regulation for the Secondary School Certificate Examination, 2011 to pave the way for the state board to hold two board examinations for the SSLC students.
Informing this after the Cabinet meeting which was held Chief Minister Residence, Education Minister, Rakkam A. Sangma informed that from next academic session onwards, the MBoSE will be having two SSLC boards examination every year following the approval of the cabinet.
According to him, the first main board examination will be held in February-March, 2025 and the supplementary board examination will be held in May, 2025.
The Education Minister informed that students who failed in two or three subjects in the main board examination will be allowed to reappear for the supplementary board examination to be held within a span of two months.
Meanwhile, Sangma said that from the academic session of 2025-2026, the main board examination will be held in December, 2025 while the supplementary board examination will be held in February-March, 2026.
“This decision was taken in the overall interest of the students. What is happening is that the board examinations are conducted after a gap of one year. We will conduct the supplementary board examination within the currrent academic session so that students do not waste one year of their academic career,” Education Minister said.
He further informed that from 2026-2027 academic sessions onwards, there will be no more optional subjects and best of five subjects will not be there anymore.
“All students will have to pass all the six subjects in the board examination,” Education Minister said.
