Earns spot in national wushu competition

Shillong, Aug 20: Nononia N Sangma, a promising young athlete from the region of West Garo Hills, has made her mark in the Wushu Khelo India Women’s League East Zone.
Competing in the under-14 years and under-42kg category, Nononia’s dedication and hard work paid off as she secured a commendable bronze medal in the championship.
The event, which took place at the NEIGHRIMS Indoor Stadium in Shillong, brought together top athletes from across the eastern zone of India. A total of 10 teams representing 8 states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, and Meghalaya—participated in the highly competitive tournament.
Despite facing tough opponents, Nononia’s resilience and skill helped her stand out in her category, earning her a well-deserved third-place finish.Nononia’s journey to success has been closely guided by her coach and trainer, Lickinson M Sangma, whose expertise and support have been instrumental in honing her abilities.
