Nonglang, Aug 20: A highly anticipated charitable football match, themed “United Against Drugs,” is set to take place on August 28, 2024, at the MDSA Artificial Turf Ground in Nonglang, South West Khasi Hills District. Originally scheduled for an earlier date, the match was rescheduled and is now eagerly awaited by the local community.
This significant event aims to raise funds for the construction of a much-needed Rehabilitation and Counseling Centre in Sohkhyllam, South West Khasi Hills District.
The centre is intended to provide essential support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance abuse, helping them on their journey to recovery.
The main attraction of the day will be the clash between Rangdajied United FC and South West Khasi Hills District FC. Both teams are known for their strong performances and dedicated fan bases, promising an exciting and competitive match. The game is scheduled to kick off at 1 PM, and supporters from across the region are expected to turn out in large numbers to show their support for the cause.
The event is being organized by the KSU South West Khasi Hills and KSU Mawkyrwat Circle, in collaboration with the Life Care Foundation.
These organizations have come together to address the growing concern of drug abuse in the region and to take proactive steps toward combating this issue. In addition to the main match, the event will feature a preliminary game between the Officers’ Club SWKHD and KSU SWKHD, set to take place at 10 AM at the same venue. This match will serve as a curtain-raiser for the main event, adding to the excitement of the day.
