MoS reviews progress of central schemes in SWKH

MAWKYRWAT, Aug 22: Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Raj Bhushan Choudhary on Thursday visited district headquarters of South West Khasi Hills and inspected different projects, following which he convened a review meeting with officers from different departments on the status of central government schemes in the district.
Accompanied by the Water Resource Minister Comingone Ymbon, Choudhary inspected various centrally sponsored projects including the Hydro Meteorological Station under the National Hydrology Project at Umngi river, Phodumtyngkoh-Phodtangjem Minor Irrigation Project at Rangmaw village, Miyawaki project in Pyndenspar, Amrit Sarovar Project Phase-II in Sakwang village, MGNREGA project at Phot Mawpon, Flow Irrigation Project (FIP) implemented by the Water Resource department at Phot Umnew, Greater Mawkyrwat Water Supply Scheme at Mawten and the Nonglang Water Supply Scheme at Nonglang village.
Choudhary also held another review meeting at the Circuit House, Mawkyrwat, which was attended by officials from Community and Rural Development, Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), Public Health Engineering, Public Works Department (Roads), Water Resources, Soil and Water Conservation Department, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Health, Agriculture and Horticulture departments and MePDCL,
who gave detailed presentations on the achievements and challenges in regard with the implementation of schemes concerning their respective departments.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Choudhary reiterated the central government’s focus and priority in developing the Northeastern region across different sectors. “There has been special focus of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for development of the Northeastern states and therefore Union Ministers visited the Northeastern states every fortnight to ensure speedy implementation of the central developmental programmes”.
“Today I reviewed the implementation of schemes of various departments with the officials of the district administration. The focus is to access the level of development in the state in different parameters and where the state of Meghalaya stands in comparison with other states of the country”, he added.
