Union MoS reviews progress of aspirational dist prog in Ri-Bhoi

NONGPOH, August 23: Union Minister of State (MoS) for Roads, Transport and Highways, Ajay Tamta, on Friday visited Ri-Bhoi review the progress of the NITI Aayog’s Aspirational District Programme.
Tama, during his visit, presided over a review meeting at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Nongpoh, in the presence of additional deputy commissioners, extra assistant commissioners, and district heads from various departments. Before the review meeting, the Union MoS visited several sites, including the Umsaw Nongkharai Health and Wellness Centre at Umsawnongkharai village, the Lay-bye market at Dulongnar and the pineapple cultivation area at Nongkhrah village.
He inspected the facilities and interacted with beneficiaries to understand the challenges they face and the benefits they have received from various central government schemes. During the review meeting, DRDA Project Director, R Brahma, along with other officials, delivered presentations detailing the progress across key indicators such as health and nutrition, education, agriculture, horticulture, PHE, PWD, and water resources.
These updates highlighted the ongoing efforts under the Aspirational District Programme and other centrally sponsored schemes. The Union MoS urged the officials to maintain high level of commitment and dedication, encouraging them to strive for excellence in comparison with other districts.
