Femina Miss India 2024: Angelina Marwein to represent Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Aug 27: Angelia N Marweiñ, a 24-year-old graduate in Political Science from Shillong, has been selected to represent Meghalaya in the upcoming Femina Miss India 2024 pageant. The competition, now celebrating its 60th edition, will see participants from all 29 states as well as a representative for the Union Territories.
While continuing her postgraduate studies, Angelia is also actively involved in modeling. Her background in social work, particularly her association with EARMACS, an initiative focused on rural development and promoting local products, underscores her dedication to community service.
Speaking to media persons, Angelia expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “It’s a tremendous honor to represent Meghalaya in the Femina Miss India 2024 pageant. This opportunity allows me to not only share my personal journey but also highlight the rich culture and heritage of my home state on a national stage.”
Coming from the matrilineal Khasi society, Angelia is a passionate advocate for gender equality and women’s rights. Her academic work includes a dissertation on the “Maitshaphrang Movement,” which examines its impact on promoting gender equality within Khasi society.
As a model, she has walked the ramp for several brands, including Jade by Monica and Karishma, and has featured in the Delhi Times Fashion Week.
The winner of Femina Miss India 2024 will go on to represent India at the 73rd Miss World pageant. The reigning Miss India, Nandini Gupta of Rajasthan, will pass on the crown to her successor at the conclusion of the event.
