Furniture shop gutted in Pohkseh

SHILLONG, Aug 27: A furniture shop was gutted in a major fire at Pohkseh near Rynjah Police Station on Tuesday morning.
According to the police, the shop belonged to one Finestar Majaw, a resident of Laitumkhrah. At the time of fire, the shop was closed.
The fire had started to spread to a nearby garage, police said. But fire tenders brought the fire under control with their timely arrival and the undeterred firefighting.
No casualties were reported in the incident but items worth Rs 4 lakh were damaged in the fire, police informed, adding that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and more details are awaited on the incident.
