The Meghalaya Community and Public Services Social Audit (Amendment)
Bill 2024
Introduced by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, the amendment Bill proposes changes to the Meghalaya Community Participation and Public Services Social Audit Act, 2017 (Act No. 7 of 2017). The objective of the amendment is to include the Chief Secretary as a member of the State Social Audit Council, designate the Chief Secretary as the ex-officio Chairperson of the State Social Audit Council in the absence of the Chairperson, and add a new proviso in Section 4 to enable Social Audits for Schemes and Projects as notified by the state government from time to time.

Bill 2024
Introduced by Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma, this Bill seeks to amend the Captain Williamson Sangma State University Act, 2011 (Act No. 17 of 2011) so as to address certain queries raised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) regarding the inclusion of the University’s name under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, and to clear ambiguities in the Principal Act by amending relevant sections, subsections, and/or clauses, thereby ensuring compliance with UGC requirements.
