SHILLONG, Sep 3: In a new twist in the Malki rape case, police have claimed that the second accused – Reuben Mawthoh – is a friend of the victim.
The incident occurred on August 29 and the first accused – Andy Malngiang – was arrested the next day following registration of an FIR. Mawthoh was arrested from Smit on Monday morning.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger said Mawthoh was a friend of the victim and they knew each other which is why she had visited his house.
Making it clear that the victim was not intoxicated, he said the first accused arrived at the house and participated in the crime.
The SP said police would be able to complete the investigation within two months.
