SHILLONG, Sep 5: The Dorbar Shnong of Muktapur village has acknowledged the positive contributions of BSF under the leadership of Coy Commander Inspector Arun Kumar, in a statement issued here. Since his appointment at Muktapur BOP, 4th Battalion BSF, relationships between the BSF and the local community have notably improved.
According to the statement, Inspector Kumar has fostered a cooperative environment by addressing and resolving any misunderstandings between the BSF and the public swiftly and without conditions. Unlike previous commanders, Kumar, it said, has engaged openly with the village’s Executive Committee members and heads of neighboring villages, inviting them to his office to discuss mutual concerns and collaborate on community welfare and security.
It also highlighted the BSF’s support through its ambulance and JCB services, which have been invaluable to the local population. The BSF ambulance has provided free transportation for patients to hospitals in Shillong, Jowai, Amlarem, and Dawki, without any charges. Additionally, the JCB has been instrumental in clearing landslides and roadblocks during the summer season, ensuring that roads remain accessible for the community.
Through its Civic Action Programmes, the BSF has donated various materials to the Dorbar Shnong, schools, churches, and temples, including computers, water purifiers, chairs, tables, and medical supplies.
