Shillong, Sep 8: All five KSU activists arrested in connection with the murder of a labourer at Mawlai Mawroh on April 10 and two migrant workers at Ichamati and Dalda area on March 27, have now been released on bail.
The local court granted the bail to all the accused since police failed to file the chargesheet within the stipulated period.
On Friday, KSU member, Cleanstar Shabong who was arrested in connection with the alleged murder of two labourers in Ichamati and Dalda was release from the Shillong district jail.
A day earlier, Gary Mawlieh (25), who was arrested in connection with the murder of the labourer at Mawlai Mawroh, was released from jail after securing bail from a local court.
On August 4, KSU members Mesadapbor Skhembil and Shanborlang Shati were granted bail. The duo had been arrested in connection with the Ichamati-Dalda twin- murder case.
Subsequently, Osternic Marbaniang, who was arrested in connection with the same case, also managed to secure bail.
Buoyed by the release of all its members and leaders, the KSU on Sunday advised the state government to investigate cases of corruption instead of arresting its members on false allegations.
“I would urge the government to stop harassing our members who are committed to the cause of our own people. It would be better if it starts investigating the cases of corruption of the people in white collar,” KSU president Lambokstarwell Marngar said.
He said that the KSU will not be demoralised even if the police continue to intimate or arrest its members.
