Inspection conducted for 3rd Sohra Intl Half Marathon route

Shillong, Sep 11: Officials from various departments conducted a thorough inspection of the routes for the upcoming 3rd Sohra International Half Marathon, scheduled for September 21, 2024.
The inspection, which took place from 9 AM, covered the 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km “Run for Fun” routes from Laitsohpliah to Mawsmai.
Representatives from the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Police, PWD, Medical, and Tourism departments, among others, participated in the review to assess preparations for the event.
The inspection was followed by a detailed review meeting, chaired by SDO (Civil) of Sohra Sub-Division, Kum.
Saloni Verma, IAS, at 3 PM in her office chambers, where further discussions on the event’s logistics and arrangements were held.
Recognized by the Athletic Federation of India and World Athletics, the International Half Marathon has drawn significant attention. The Organising Committee has also issued instructions for participants of the 5K “Run for Fun” category, registered both online and offline from Shillong, to collect their T-shirts.
The distribution will take place on September 18, 2024, from 12 PM to 5 PM at JN Complex, Polo Grounds, Shillong. Participants must bring their registration acknowledgment and a photocopy of their ID proof.
Those unable to collect in person must provide a proper authorization letter from the registered participant.
For those participating in the 21 km and 10 km events, the collection of T-shirts and bib numbers remains scheduled for September 19 and 20, 2024.
