AG Meghalaya dominates Futsal Fest

Shillong, Sep 12: The Futsal Fest quarterfinals delivered a day of thrilling action, with some standout performances cementing the favorites’ status and surprising upsets shaking up the tournament.
AG Meghalaya FT, the tournament’s frontrunners, showcased their dominance with a convincing 6-1 victory over ITI Shillong. Former I-League star Sheen Sohktung and Shillong Premier League standout Chanmitre Thma each scored twice, solidifying their team’s position as top contenders.
While AG Meghalaya cruised to victory, other well-known players faced mixed fortunes. Aiborlang Khongjee’s Assembly FC fell short in a thrilling 6-4 defeat against the tournament’s dark horse, MIMHANS. MIMHANS, backed by their enthusiastic employees and students, have captured the hearts of fans with their exciting brand of football.
Brandon Dkhar, the team’s star player, continued his impressive form, netting his second hat-trick of the competition.
Elsewhere, MeECL’s Ebormi Buam stole the show with a five-goal performance in his team’s 9-4 win over PHE FT. Meanwhile, Fivestar Shylla’s remarkable goal-scoring exploits continued, as he single-handedly led Meghalaya Secretariat Home Guards to a 4-3 victory over Water Resources, scoring all four of his team’s goals.
Shylla, who had previously netted eight goals in a single match, has now firmly established himself as the tournament’s top scorer.
The semifinals promise to be a thrilling spectacle, with AG Meghalaya facing the ever-improving MeECL and MIMHANS taking on Fivestar Shylla and his Home Guards team.
These crucial matches will kick offon Friday at 2 PM, offering fans more exciting futsal action.
