Shillong, Sept 12: The SSA teachers on Thursday threatened to launch a statewide indefinite demonstration if the state government fails to enhance their salaries by September 30.
The SSA teachers under the banner of All Meghalaya SSA School Teachers’ Association (AMSSASTA) said they will go with the indefinite statewide protest, including in the state capital, whatever the consequences may be.
AMSSASTA president, Peter Thyrniang in a representation submitted to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said they would like to bring to his notice the ultimatum and the previous memorandums which they had submitted seeking redressal of the grievances of all SSA teachers in the state.
“Till date we have not got any response from the government on this crucial matter. It has been eight long years since the government enhanced the salary of the SSA teachers,” he said.
The SSA teachers are demanding a 100% hike based on the revised pay structure of the state government.
