Clarification
The Health department has issued a clarification regarding a recent news item published in The Shillong Times titled “KSU questions irregularities in AYUSH recruitment.” The department emphasised that the recruitment process for Medical Officer AYUSH, District Programme Manager (DPM), and Staff Nurse positions under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) followed proper procedures. According to the statement, advertisements were published on February 12, 2024, in local newspapers, including The Shillong Times, and the department’s official website. The shortlist of candidates was released on May 16, 2024, followed by an additional list on May 27, 2024. Only candidates who passed the written exams and adhered to the application deadlines were selected for interviews, it said.

A literary programme of the Nepali Poets Meet was organised by the Sahitya Akademi New Delhi in collaboration with the Nepali Sahitya Parishad in Shillong on September 15. All five Nepali poets of Shillong approved by Sahitya Akademi read out loud their self-composed poems at the programme.

The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association has elected new office-bearers for the term 2024-27 with AM Lyngwa as the president and Raynold Basaiawmoit as general secretary besides other members.

Banks and financial institutions in East Khasi Hills will remain closed on September 18 on account of Unitarian Anniversary Day, ordered the General Administration Department.
