TURA, Sep 17: The All Garo Hills Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Federation based in Ampati, South West Garo Hills, has submitted a memorandum to the Director of Social Welfare in Shillong seeking the provision of new mobile phones to enable them to continue with the Poshan Tracker Updates.
In their memorandum to the Director, the workers expressed their willingness to resume the updates as required by the department but said that the lack of proper and functioning mobile phones was preventing them from achieving the objective“The mobile phones issued by the government have either stopped working, become outdated or are not capable of handling the demands of the Poshan Tracker application” the federation stated.
The federation added that the issue of malfunctioning or lack of mobile phones was raised through various channels over the last few months but that no action was taken to address the issue. The workers added that due to the meager honorarium they receive, they were unable to afford the phones on their own.
The federation gave concerned authorities two months to heed their demands or they would resume their strike.
