SHILLONG, Sep 18: Shillong’s first modern shopping mall, located in Polo, is almost ready to open, with the only hurdle remaining being the connection of power supply. The Polo Shopping Mall, built under the Shillong Smart City project, is 99% complete, and final cleaning work is currently under way.
Sources indicate that the only task left is the installation of the electricity supply, which is expected to be completed within the next 15 days. Once the power arrangements are in place, the mall could be inaugurated as early as October.
Constructed by Badri Rai Company at a cost of Rs 85 crore, the mall boasts a total built-up area of 1.5 lakh square feet. The six-story structure will house 90 shops and offer mechanisd car parking facilities.
Among its features are 12 escalators, five lifts, a food court, EV charging stations, office spaces on the fifth and sixth floors, and a dedicated kids’ zone. The shopping complex is expected to provide Shillong residents with a high-quality shopping experience, making it a significant addition to the city’s retail landscape.
