Tura weightlifters invited to state championships

Tura, Sep 22: In a bid to boost weightlifting in Garo Hills, the Meghalaya Weightlifting Association (MWA) handed over essential equipment to the West Garo Hills Weightlifting Association (WGHWA) on Saturday.
The gear provided includes a 15kg weightlifting bar, two 15kg weights, two 10kg weights, and two 5kg weights, aimed at improving the training infrastructure for athletes in Tura.
During a meeting, the MWA emphasized the active participation of athletes from Garo Hills in this year’s Meghalaya Games.
They also extended an invitation to WGHWA for the 3rd State Weightlifting Championship, set to take place from October 25-26 in Jowai.Both associations discussed the future of weightlifting as a promising avenue for local talent, expressing optimism about the potential within Garo Hills.
