Ex-North Tura MLA no more

TURA, Oct 4: Former MLA of North Tura, Noverfield N Marak, passed away on Friday after a bout of illness in Guwahati, where he was being treated for the past few days.
He was suffering from glioma and lung infection.
According to his family, he went to Guwahati on August 30 after he had a brain aneurysm and had to undergo an operation at the Apollo International Hospital. The procedure was successful and he returned home to Tura.
However, he was once again admitted to Holy Cross Hospital On September 24 in Tura after his oxygen levels dropped.
He was referred to Pratiksha Hospital in Guwahati.
He was admitted on September 26 after which doctors told the family that he had lung infection and pneumonia and due to glioma, his condition deteriorated.
Marak passed away on Friday evening with his mortal remains being brought back to Tura on the same day.
The family added that his funeral will be held on Sunday, though the time is yet to be decided.
Marak won his first Assembly election on a Congress ticket in 2013 before losing the next one in 2018 to NPP’s Thomas Sangma.
