Bye-election to Gambegre Assembly constituency on Nov 13

Shillong, Oct 15: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday announced that the bye-election to the Gambegre Assembly constituency in Meghalaya will be held on November 13.

According to a press note issued by the ECI, the date of issuing of gazette notification is October 18 while the last of filing nominations is fixed on October 25.

The counting of votes will be held on November 23.

The bye-election to the Gambegre Assembly constituency has been necessitated in view of the resignation of former sitting Congress MLA, Saleng A. Sangma.

Sangma resigned as an MLA following his election as an MP of Lok Sabha from Tura Parliamentary seat.

The bye elections will be held in 48 Assembly Constituencies and two Parliamentary Constituencies across 15 States.
