TURA, Oct 20: The BSF in West Garo Hills on Saturday foiled an attempt by miscreants to smuggle clothing items worth over Rs 12 lakh to neighbouring Bangladesh.
Acting on specific tip-off, vigilant troops of BSF Meghalaya while on an operation came across a group of smugglers who on being challenged fled from the scene taking advantage of the thick vegetation and the difficult terrain.
A search of the bundles left behind by the smugglers revealed the clothing items which were immediately seized.
The seized items were later handed over to the concerned customs office.
