Laban TT academy shines at 41st State C’ship

Shillong, Oct 20: Laban Sports Club Table Tennis Academy delivered an outstanding performance at the 41st Meghalaya Table Tennis State Championship, held at JN Indoor Stadium, Polo, Shillong, from October 15-19, 2024.
The academy competed in 18 different categories overall, competing for a total of 54 medals, and also emerged as the top contributor to East Khasi Hills District’s success.
The academy secured an impressive haul of 35 medals, including 10 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze, making it the most successful academy in the tournament’s history so far.
This grand achievement placed East Khasi Hills District at the top among all participating districts in the state in the competition.
Ansh Ray and Shriya Thapa from the academy were also recognized as the most promising male and female players of the tournament, further cementing the academy’s dominance in the championship.
Jitendra Gareri, the Head Coach of Laban Sports Club Table Tennis Academy, expressed his pride in the academy’s achievements.
“Our next mission is Nationals, and we have already started working on it. I believe we can achieve great things, and in the coming days, we will bring recognition to Meghalaya in the field of table tennis in India,” he said.
The academy’s historic medal tally marks a significant milestone in Meghalaya’s sporting landscape, as the Laban Sports Club continues to nurture young talent and raise the profile of table tennis in the state.
