SHILLONG, Oct 20: NEHU-Deen Dayal Upadhyay Community College for Skill Development, Wahiajer, a constituent college of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), hosted a six-day ‘Musical Troupe’ training programme from October 14 to 19. The programme trained three bands under the brand name of ‘NEHU-DDUCC MUSICAL TROUPE.’
In its commitment to provide high-quality and innovative training in the performing arts, the institute’s mission is to inspire local artists, create music, and help students realise their artistic potential.
The training programme attracted a number of young local artists and students passionate about music, offering them the opportunity to challenge themselves and advance their skills. The programme, which concluded on Saturday, was deemed a success, with participants gaining new knowledge through musical training and demonstrations. The resource person, renowned film producer and distributor Prasenjit Mishra, whose illustrious career in Bollywood is marked by unparalleled success, led the training.
NEHU Vice-Chancellor Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla and Prof SM Sungoh, Principal-in-Charge of DDUCC, emphasised the university’s commitment to enhancing the skill set of artists. They highlighted the importance of providing an inclusive environment that allows local youth to explore their passion and develop their musical skills at both the national and international levels. Learning a new language, along with acquiring knowledge of different musical genres, styles, and techniques, enables them to communicate with wider audiences and collaborate with diverse artists.
The valedictory programme was attended by Sanat Solanki, founder of Tantra Alternate Media Group, Mumbai, as the chief guest.
In his speech, he praised the university for organising such a programme to promote the youth in the community. He encouraged the participants to recognise their talents, remain committed, and work hard to achieve their goals.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from programme coordinator Wolnish Rymbai, followed by the distribution of certificates to all participants.
