JSU alleges ‘illegal’ temple construction, moves WJH DC

SHILLONG, Oct 22: The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) has urged the West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner to intervene in the illegal construction of a temple in Lakroh village.
In a letter to the DC, JSU’s Syndai unit president, Pynshailang Suliang, claimed that the temple was being built without the consent of the village head and committee. He alleged that the construction was carried out forcefully, without following proper protocols or obtaining permission from the village authorities.
Suliang requested the DC to take immediate action to halt the construction, stating, “Stopping this illegal construction will help maintain peace and respect for all community sentiments.”
The JSU provided a picture of the alleged temple, which appears more like a small worship space in the front yard than a full-scale temple.
