TURA, Oct 22: Continuing its war against the drugs, West Garo Hills police on Monday arrested four drug peddlers from a location near Raksamagre village, while they were transporting the same in a private car.
The incident took place at about 10 pm.
The four arrested in the case have been identified as Ashanur Islam (Kharbanda), Shahinur Islam (Pekamari), Khuka Miah (Doyachar) and Sujon Mondal (Kularchar). All 4 are from the South Salmara district of Assam.
As per police sources, reliable inputs were received from sources about a car allegedly transporting contraband. Accordingly, an Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) team was led by the SDPO of Raksamgre which intercepted the car (AS 01AQ6447). The drug was being transported in soap cases.
A total of 81.22 grams of heroin with an approximate value of over Rs 7 lakh was seized from them. A case under NDPS has been filed and all four have been arrested and forwarded to custody. Investigation into further leads in the case have begun, informed Superintendent of Police of WGH, Abraham T Sangma.
