BSF recovers Bangladeshi national’s body near int’l border

SHILLONG, Oct 26: Troops of Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya Frontier, on Thursday recovered the body of a Bangladeshi national near Maraka Chring village in the Sibbari area under Baghmara Police Station.
According to a statement here, two Bangladeshi nationals had attempted to intrude into Indian territory through an unfenced area in the aforesaid village only to be spotted by the on-duty BSF personnel.
After being chased by the BSF troops, one of them fled back toward Bangladesh while the other was suspected to be inside the Indian territory.
The BSF personnel then subsequently informed the post commander of Sibbari Border Outpost (BOP).
Upon arrival at the location, the team conducted a search and discovered the lifeless body of the second individual beneath a culvert, with a suspected cause of death being cardiac arrest.
Accordingly, the IC Sibbari and additional staff were dispatched to the scene to conduct an inquiry and observe necessary legal formalities.
