Four booked for raping 13-yr-old girl
Thane, Oct 28: A case has been registered against four persons for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old inmate of an orphanage in Navi Mumbai, police said on Monday. The accused include personnel of the orphanage, including a woman caretaker who did not report the abuse that took place between July and September, he said. (PTI)

Centre earns Rs 279 cr from scrap disposal
New Delhi, Oct 28: The Centre has earned Rs 279 crore revenue from disposal of scrap by its various departments and organisations during the ongoing month-long cleanliness campaign, officials said on Monday. The special campaign 4.0 launched by the government, with Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) as the nodal department, will attain its stated objectives of institutionalisation of cleanliness campaigns and reduction in pendency with a saturation approach, according to an official statement. Ayodhya Diwali: 17 bylanes connecting to Ram Ki Paidi sealed
Ayodhya, Oct 28: Keeping in view security concerns for the Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya, 17 bylanes connecting to Ram Ki Paidi on the banks of Saryu river have been sealed, police said on Monday. The police have compiled lists of the residents in all colonies connected to Ram ki Paidi and Rampath, they said. Access to Ram Ki Paidi has now been restricted to pass holders only for Deepotsav preparations. Only volunteers stationed at the ghats, officials associated with Deepotsav, and pass holders are allowed to enter the premises, they said. Barricading has been set up in all the bylanes leading to Ram Ki Paidi. To ensure no disruption occurs with the lamps, efforts to isolate the area have intensified, and security forces are being deployed in 12-hour shifts. (PTI)

Shiv Sena (UBT) nominee opts out of poll contest
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Oct 28: In an embarrassment for Shiv Sena (UBT), its candidate Kishanchand Tanwani on Monday decided against contesting the election from Aurangabad Central constituency, citing potentially unfavourable situation similar to the 2014 contest. Notably, Imtiaz Jaleel of AIMIM had defeated Shiv Sena (undivided) candidate Pradeep Jaiswal from the Aurangabad Central segment in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city in 2014, relegating Tanwani, who contested on BJP’s ticket, to the third spot. The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena had declared Tanwani’s candidature last week. (PTI)

36 cases of diarrhoea reported in Jharkhand
Jamshedpur, Oct 28: Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district administration on Monday sent a medical team to Patamda block after 36 cases of diarrhoea were reported from a village. The deputy commissioner instructed the team to rush to the village to provide proper treatment to the patients. A member of the team, an epidemiologist, said the villagers complained of stomachache, vomiting, loose motion. (PTI)
