SHILLONG, Oct 28: The Meghalaya government has announced a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for state government employees, pensioners, and family pension holders.
The DA/DR will be raised from the existing 43% to 46% of the basic pay, effective retroactively from July 1, 2024. The Finance (Pay Revision) Department issued an Office Memorandum detailing that the increase in DA/DR applies to all categories of state government employees and pensioners, including family pension holders.
Additionally, the revised DA/DR rates will also apply to members of the work-charged establishment and casual workers, excluding Bungalow Peons, who hold posts in the state pay scale.
The order clarifies that pensioners or family pensioners who are re-employed under the state or central government, or employed in state-owned companies or autonomous bodies, will have their DA/DR suspended during the period of re-employment. Payment on account of DA/DR will be rounded off to the nearest rupee, with fractions of 50 paise or more rounded up and amounts below that ignored.
