TURA, Oct 30: At least eight more Bangladeshi nationals, including three minors, were apprehended by West Garo Hills (WGH) police from the Indo-Bangladesh border after inputs were received of their presence around the Dalugaon area of the district.
The incident took place on Monday when the Bangladeshi nationals were apparently on their way back to Bangladesh after illegally entering India through the Murshidabad district of West Bengal.
As per sources, the Dalu Police Station was informed at around 9:30 pm about some Bangladeshi nationals being spotted at Dalugaon PWD road.
Acting on the inputs, a police team reached the spot and brought the Bangladeshi nationals back to the police station and subsequently arrested them under the Foreigners Act, 2005.
During enquiry, it was learnt that the foreign nationals entered into Indian territory in June/July 2020 through Lalgola Murshidabad, West Bengal, and were proceeding to Dalugaon village, reportedly with an intention to return back to Bangladesh, without valid documents.
The arrested Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Bilal Hussain (31), Md Alongir Hussain (51), Md Sahin Hussain (19), Md Rimon (19), Belli Bibi (30) and three minors aged 17, 14 and eight years — all residents of Chor Asaria in Rajshahi district of Bangladesh.
