Young Highlanders head to Silchar for NM Gupta football tourney

Guwahati, Nov 5: NorthEast United FC will participate in the 33rd edition of the Captain Nalini Mohan Gupta (NM Gupta) Memorial Invitational Football Tournament which is being organized by the District Sports Association (DSA), Silchar, and has travelled to Silchar, Assam.
The young highlanders are placed in Group A with Lenroul FC and FC Raeangdai from Manipur.
The team will play their opening match against FC Raeangdai on 6th November 2024 at the DSA Ground at 2 pm. Their second match against Lenroul FC is scheduled for 8th November 2024 at the same venue and at the same time.Group B teams are Mohammedan SC, Aizawl FC from Mizoram and Senapati FC from Manipur. The two table-toppers will play the final on 11th November 2024.“NM Gupta Trophy is a prestigious tournament in Assam and it’s a great opportunity for the club to grow its footprint in the region. It gives our players exposure and a chance to play in a great tournament,” Suhel Nair, Head of Youth Development, NorthEast United FC said.“As a developmental team, the players will grow in diverse environments and places. Our objective this season is to give our players maximum opportunities to develop themselves,” he concluded.
NorthEast United FC’s participation in the NM Gupta Memorial Invitational Football Tournament marks a valuable step in the club’s journey to deepen its roots in regional football. By competing in Silchar, the club aims not only to build its reputation in Assam but also to provide its young talent with vital match experience in varied playing conditions.
