SHILLONG, Nov 6: As many as 22,742 candidates have applied for 445 vacant posts in the Civil Defence & Home Guards department, signifying the high levels of unemployment in the state.
The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for the posts will resume from November 18-21.
“There are 445 posts but 22,742 candidates have applied which is a big number,” Civil Defence & Home Guards Minister Comingone Ymbon revealed on Wednesday.
The PET is being conducted for 445 vacant posts including four posts of Sub Inspectors, 284 Guardsman, 17 drivers and 140 non-combatant employees in Shillong and Tura.
He also informed that candidates who were scheduled to participate in the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) on October 4, 5, 7 and 8 and those who had qualified in the PMT and participated in the PET on October 2 and 3 will have to download new admit cards from the department’s official website for their dates of participation.
