Shillong, Nov 10: In an intense display of skill and resilience, Lumkynsai SC and Umiew Maw U Sam SC emerged victorious in the quarterfinals of the inaugural Smit Area Sports Association’s Football League Tournament 2024, held on Saturday.
Both matches, settled through tiebreakers, ended with a close scoreline of 5-4.Lumkynsai SC clinched their win against Laitdiengsai SC, while Umiew Maw U Sam SC triumphed over Nongkrem SC, earning both teams a spot in the upcoming semifinals. The tournament had previously been delayed due to several participating teams competing in the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2024, along with adverse field conditions caused by the monsoon rains.The third and fourth quarterfinal matches are scheduled for November 16, featuring Umphrup SC versus Smit Mawmluh SC and Sohryngkham SC against Mylliem Lum SC. The semifinals will follow on November 23, with the championship final set for the following week, promising an exciting conclusion to the league.
