M’laya athletes shine at nat’l bodybuilding competition

Shillong, Nov 14: Meghalaya’s bodybuilding athletes brought home an impressive array of awards from the 14th WFF Mr & Ms India (HINDUSTAN) Competition, held in Chennai from November 8 to 10.
The national event saw participation from over 350 athletes across India, with a strong Meghalaya contingent of seven athletes and two officials, all of whom earned top placements in their respective categories.
The Meghalaya Body Building and Fitness Association (MBBFA), in association with the World Fitness Federation (WFF) Meghalaya, proudly announced that all seven athletes representing the state achieved podium finishes. Notably, two of Meghalaya’s athletes clinched overall national titles: Daman Pohktai was crowned the Men’s Denim Jeans Model Champion, and Larisa Syiem won first place in the Women’s Fitness Glamour category.
The Meghalaya team, led by MBBFA President Flanagan Kharwanlang and General Secretary Noel Tariang, showcased the state’s talent and dedication to fitness excellence. Here’s a look at the athletes’ achievements:
Daman Pohktai was awarded the title of Overall Champion in the Men’s Denim Jeans Model category. Larisa Syiem secured 1st place in Women’s Fitness Glamour, while Pritam Sunar also took 1st place in Bodybuilding for the below 75 kg category. Pyniohladmi Pala achieved 4th place in Men’s Physique (Short Category), and Akash Choudhary finished in 5th place in Men’s Physique (Tall Category). Wanshai Kharchandy earned 2nd place in Bodybuilding below 65 kg and also claimed 3rd place in the Above 40 Years category. Lastly, Wanraplang Thubru attained 3rd place in Bodybuilding below 75 kg.
The MBBFA and WFF Meghalaya expressed immense pride in the team’s achievements, which not only reflect the athletes’ hard work and commitment but also mark a significant accomplishment for the state on a national platform.
