SHILLONG, Nov 18: NEHU Vice Chancellor in charge, Prof Nirmalendu Saha on Monday ended all speculations by confirming that the two-member central probe team will visit the university.
Prof Saha said he held a telephonic conversation with the Ministry of Education which has confirmed that the two-member committee will visit the university. He also said that the ministry has assured that action will be initiated as per the recommendations of the report of the inquiry committee.
“I requested the inquiry team to come as early as possible because students are on an indefinite hunger strike and they are adamant that they will not call off their agitation unless action is initiated against the VC,” he said.
Prof Saha said he has received a request from the ministry to provide documents to the inquiry committee relating to the grievances raised by the different stakeholders of the university. “I have formed a small internal committee and I am trying my level-best to provide the relevant documents to the two-member committee,” he said.
He said the inquiry committee will listen to all the stakeholders after going through to all the papers and documents submitted by the university.
“They will go back to Delhi and submit the report to the ministry for further action,” the VC in charge said.
“We will be able to submit the details to the ministry through email positively by Tuesday afternoon,” he said.
